About

Hi!
My name is Rachel. I started this blog because I need accountability.

You see, I need to heal my body. After years of abuse (about 7) to my body, I’m done treating it like a garbage can and a punching bag. In the past, I’ve struggled with any and every kind of disordered way of eating there is, no really. From overexercising and not eating enough, to eating too much with not much exercise (and everything in between), I’ve finally found the “right” way to do it.

My “right” way = eating whole, unprocessed foods and exercising a healthy amount every week. Not too much, not too little (food and exercise).

Because of the said abuse I have put my body through, I have developed severe food intolerances, along with hormonal imbalances and hypothyroidism. I was diagnosed with leaky gut which makes for a complete uphaul of your diet. I had an IgG blood test done, testing for specific foods my body reacts to, and the top 3 most severe ones were dairy, gluten, and egg. There were several other randoms like bananas and coriander, but I avoided those foods for about a year and can now tolerate them. I completely cut out dairy, gluten and egg for about a year to a year and half, and after trying small amounts of all 3, I am showing signs of improvement. But alas, I still have some digestive symptoms when consuming these foods (that I will spare you the details of).

This is my journey on the Whole30 program. If you are not familiar with it, it is eating meat & seafood, healthy fats, and lots of veggies, with some fruit. I have eaten this way in the past, and I can notice a tremendous difference in how I feel. I have tried in the past several weeks to start this program, but I keep slipping up. I want to prove to myself that I can do it. More importantly, I want to feel 100% mentally and physically.

Thanks for reading and following my journey! I hope to inspire you. 🙂

Rachel
